Fine Art movement : I shall be looking at the POP ARTIST movement.
artist inspiration Roy Lichtenstein,Andy Warhol, early David Hockney,
Derek Boshier , Allen Jones, peter Phillips,Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg,Alex Katz, and also Julian Opie in the form of portraits.
the theme of our latest center space exhibition is all about MOVEMENT
So I have chosen to do color through movement as an directional approach, where my use of brushstrokes are to be of simple linear directional movement .By using a mixture of different brightly colored pigments that will be whitewashed with acrylic primer, this will make the choice of colors that more vivid. The surface choice that i will be using will be a3 sized MDF cuts of wood.hopefully throughout the project time i would have made a mass multiple amount of different processes such as using collage, paper printing, printmaking, sheen collate, metal drawing, oils and acrylic painting on a range of surfaces like wood, canvas, paper, scrap. For the digital portfolio and collating my works together i will be making Photoshop sequences of my photography processes from the different portraits that i will be selecting throughout the project,i will be trying out different techniques similar to early David Hockney work where he would use a portrait photo and take pieces apart from the facial details, and then rearrange the sections back together so they then become a different kind of photographic manipulation just like a jigsaw puzzle.
I shall be adding more layers of colour on-top of the self portraits that i shall be using as of so far i have used photos that were created on the macs in the computer room, i used program "photo suite" and applied this pop art style layer which then creates a sequence of captured portraits by using two layers of colors that highlight the outlining details of the facial form, each snap then creates a sub layer that then gets placed around the outline of the portrait creating a fill in mixed coloring's .
Much of this project inspiration is taken from Julian opies BLUR album cover artwork where the four artists faces are positioned within a 4 panel portrait sequence.I have chosen to do a similar approach with adding the objects that appear from the front cover such as wearing glasses, headphones, hat and hoody.
that it :)
